This is as far as I can go on the receiver for now.
Next I start the Barrel Block, again I start with a 1.5" x .75" piece and apply some Dykem.
Then its back to the surface place and I layout the lines for the Lug and the position of the Barrel and Extractor holes.
I don't have the capacity to drill this on the Mini-Mill so I offset the piece in the Lathe using a 4-jaw chuck. Here I am lining up the Barrel hole using the pointer in the tailstock.
I then drill the hole to 31/64" using several different sized drill bits.
Finally I use a .500" reamer to finish the hole to the size.
Next I use the same procedure and drill and ream the extractor hole to 1/8". The only difference on this hole was it had to be drilled from both sides because of the short drill bits.
Then I chamfered both ends of each hole a slightly to remove any burrs.
Here are the finished Barrel and Extractor holes in the Barrel Block.
Next its was back over to the Mill to Cut out the Barrel Lug.
I then used so emery cloth to clean up the rough edges.
A quick test fit to make sure the Barrel Block fits flush up against the Receiver.
After applying some more dye to the lug I use a transfer punch to mark the location of the pivot and locking pin holes.
Then making sure they are lined up perfect with the pointer I drilled and reamed the holes .
Then with a file I shave the corners slightly to allow the Barrel Block to rotate upward for loading.
