Golden Valley Phoenix Firebirds win Blaine Break-out Tournament!

The Golden Valley Phoenix U14 C1 girls’ soccer team won the Blaine Break-out Tournament May 6th & 7th at the Blaine Sports Center!

The Golden Valley Phoenix Firebirds U14C1 girl's team takes 1st place at the Blaine Break-out Tournament May 6th & 7th at the Blaine Sports Center.

The Golden Valley Phoenix Firebirds started out the tournament with a 1-0 win over the Coon Rapids Thunder C1 team with a goal scored by Bridgit Bergquist.

Game 2 was against the Kelix C1 team which ended in a 0-0 tie.

Game 3 was against the White Bear Lake Bears C1 team.  The Firebirds won 2-0 with a goal being scored by Bergquist & a direct kick scored by Brooke Riches.

The championship game was against the Kelix team later that afternoon. The Firebirds won 1-0 with a goal scored by Bergquist.

No goals were scored on Firebirds goalkeepers; Rachael Koene & Amy Morgan for the entire tournament.

1st place trophies were handed out to the team later that afternoon by the coaches, Neville Basman & Steve Klucas.

The team consists of:  Jenna Basman, Bridgit Bergquist, Jennifer Dye, Amanda Eidam, Kelley Gilbert, Meaghan Hughes, Kelsey Jacobson, Nikki Klucas, Rachael Koene, Amy Morgan, Laurel Oswald, Jing Peng, Melissa Plooster, Brooke Riches, Maria Sinchi, Abby Werner and Rachael Wittkowske.

This is the 2nd tournament for the team already this season.  They also took 3rd place out of 16 teams at the Cedar Rapids Iowa Chill-Out Tournament in April for C1 and Premier Teams.
