Fall 2004
Stingrays Alumni News
Coaches Corner
RAYS Alumni,
We've
been rather busy since our last Newsletter. Being an
Olympic year, etc we were inundated with NEW RAYS in
September. We have reached over 380 swimmers for the
first time in our 18-year history.
We were the first to
host the "Disney Swim With
the Stars" clinic that included Michael Phelps,
Ian Crocker and Lenny Krazelburg. There were over
1500 spectators (for two shows) at MVAC and kids "screaming" as
if the Beatles were in town. It was a great experience
for all and we need to thank Wade Kelley and Pike Hightower
for helping us get such great athletes. Our organization
sponsored and volunteered to run the two clinics and
as always did an outstanding job.
With so many RAYS we
opened a new location in Woodstock. We are utilizing
the Eagle Watch subdivision pool and have just finished
putting an 8500 square foot tent over the pool. Just
like our west location the tent structure is so much
more reliable than the old "bubbles".
If you ever swam at the West or North bubble you will
really appreciate the tent structures. Coach Keegan
Walkley is leading our expansion and doing very well.
We took
our team to Canada in June to compete at the SPEEDO International
Age Group Meet. We had a lot of FUN and swam pretty well
to. We then spent a day at Niagara Falls, pretty impressive
sight.
Next summer we plan on taking our trip to Florida
and our goal is to go across seas in 2006 or 2007.
I went
out to Long Beach, CA in July to watch Wade Kelly compete
in the Olympic Trials. Wade swam awesome and made the
semi finals (10th) in the 200 Fly. His event was televised
live on NBC, which I believe my whole neighborhood watched.
It was an outstanding scene in Long Beach. Over 10,000
spectators in a beautiful setting, one I'll always remember.
In 2008 we will have several more athletes joining Wade
at the trials.
I hope everyone is well; I really do enjoy
hearing from you all. I am hoping Julie and Courtney
can help with a 20 year reunion/celebration in 2006
where we can all gather and reminisce, etc. Maybe have
a swim meet where you can all see how fast you are
after an "extended" taper?
Be
safe and remember all you learned in the pool can be
utilized today – Training for Life
Your Coach, always

I am married with no kids,
still running my pool company, which keeps me super busy.
I am taking a much needed vacation to Jamaica for six
days this October. Really looking forward to that. I'll
also be spending the holidays with my wife's family in
Europe, which should be very fun, as well.
If you or a friend is looking for work, I am currently
looking for some full time employees in the following
areas: sales, human resources, and accounting. These
are full-time year-round positions with benefits. If
you know of anyone who might be interested, please
have them to contact me right away. I have already begun
interviewing and plan to fill these positions by early
November.
I hope everyone is doing well. Take care, Craig |

Dear Fellow
Stingrays: Oh my goodness – what a
year!!! And I can’t wait to hear how everyone
else is doing as well! The biggest news for me
is that I got married on June 19, 2004. The wedding
was amazing and we couldn’t have imagined a more
perfect day. Jaime and I then went to Hawaii
for our honeymoon and loved it.
We are living in Milford,
Connecticut and both still working for the same company – however in July
we were officially spun-off. The new company name
is Lanxess, but it still does the same thing. I
am working in the technical group helping our sales force
sell the chemicals to the paper industry. For the
past year or so I have been working on the introduction
of a new product and have been quite the globe traveler
(Germany, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Singapore,
Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea…). It has
been quite an experience!!! I also got to travel
out to the west coast this very week – so on Sunday
I was able to spend some time with Arika and her husband
in Seattle – thanks so much Arika for an awesome
time. For
Thanksgiving, Jaime and I are going to take some
vacation and visit Colombia, where he is from – only
one more month to beef up my Spanish!!! Then, we
will head down to Jacksonville, FL to visit my folks
(and Bud & Sarah) for Christmas. I can’t
wait. I
hope everyone is doing well and I can’t wait
to hear all about everything. Thanks also to Julie
and Courtney for taking on this project. Good luck
to all of you still swimming in college and whatnot. Take
care! Love, Gina
P.S. If anyone wants, the wedding pictures are up
on the web for a little while. There are a bunch,
but you can get an idea. The website is www.collages.net. The
username is millan and the password is 3274.
