Backcountry Skiing Break, Mt. Hood in Background

Taking a break on a backcountry ski outing, March 2004, Mt. Hood area. This photograph was taken on a route that I pioneered (Klindt Vielbig, author of the well-know XC skiing guide to Oregon, said that he had not heard of anyone else doing the route when I told him about it.) I call it "Ghost Ridge, Three Peaks Traverse". The route follows the PCT south from Barlow Pass, and then ascends to "Ghost Ridge" (see Klindt's book). Looking south, you can see two other small peaks on this ridge, the third one about one mile distant. The route ascends all three peaks, dropping down to the saddles between them.
