Note (April 2007): I am not currently flying tandems.
(For qualifications to fly as a tandem passenger see "Tandem Paragliding: Information for Anyone Thinking of Flying".)
If you would like to try a paragliding flight, but have never paraglided before, you can go tandem paragliding! As a certified tandem pilot I can take people with no experience paragliding, and we will fly using top-quality tandem equipment. First we will do some training on the hill, going over and practicing what you need to do. When you are ready to fly, this is what it might look like*...
You will be slightly in front of me, facing down the hill:
After I say "pull" you will feel the glider pulling on you as you pull forward:
When I say "run" we will run down the hill:
The glider will lift us into the air:
After sliding back into the harness you will feel comfortable and have
a big smile:
Eventually we will descend to land:
Cost: Tandem flights cost typically $125-$150 or more commercially, but I fly for free my friends, friends of friends, PSU students, and friends of my students. All other passengers I request make a contribution of about $40 to the Cascade Paragliding Club.**
