Georgia or Bust

Our good friend Jerry Allen is moving from Seattle to Dallas Georgia.

He has a lot of stuff to move and it seems some of the trucks they are using are not reliable, so Y’all needs ta help him out by flyin his belongins to Georgia.

Video of some of the legs:

One truck already has made it to Dayton Ohio to pickup some belongings he has stored at his son’s house but alas it seems this truck made a sudden turn into the storefront of an airplane memorabilia shop and is down for the count.

Where is Jerry’s help?? !!

Due to aircraft being loaded to the gills, y’all will have to limit your fuel load. The various legs of this charter are short, as you will need to stop for fuel.

You may fly any aircraft you wish but I will throw in suggestions.

I will also include approach plates and weather set ups on some legs.

Remember to use minimal fuel on all legs

Leg 1:  KSEA to KBIL    575 N miles as the crow flies. Flight plan and weather at your discretion.

Suggest SPA’s EMB 170 or SPE 727-200 or

Any four engine prop

If you fly the “Connie” Load 6500 Lbs Fuel

And if R28 is an option use this plate:

VOR/DME RNAV RWY 28R

Leg 2:  KBIL to KSTP   654 miles.

Weather and flight plan at your discretion

Suggest SPA’s EMB 170 or SPE 727-200

Leg 4:  KMGY to KSME

153 miles.

Fuel load: 210 lbs. That’s plenty, trust me…….

Flight plan: PWF LE CDX land rwy 4

Cruise alt 6500 feet

Approach plate: https://home.comcast.net/~steve.lutgen/ndb_rwy_4.pdf

Weather: Visibility 3 miles up to 5500 feet

Wind 038 at 16 with light turbulence

Overcast at 8000 to 14000 with moderate icing

Temp 24 and dew point 19

I strongly recommend the Lockheed Vega….

Some of these default aircraft are often overlooked but are pure gems. This plane is easy to fly but a little tricky to navigate. It’s NDB navigation only.

The autopilot is pretty simple once you get used to it. Very much like the DC-3.

As we are helping Jerry move, and to honor his contribution here, I thought it’d be nice if we flew some aircraft as old as he is.

Flight path into KSME above

1.    Fair weather to get a good look at Jerry’s new surroundings or……

2.   Overcast 2500 in light snow with 5 mile visibility

Winds 16 knots from 227. Severe Icing, Temp 22, It’s a rare cold snap. Dew point 21.

Turbulence moderate.

I hope you enjoy these flights.

Please post pictures and stories at the Pub

and/or the bulletin board.

Reminder to please get your assigned weekly or monthly flight in before doing the charter.

As I understand it, that’s some kind of rule we have here. I could be wrong though.
