Welcome

"KEEP THE DIRTY SIDE DOWN"

FS2004 ATC "ST. PAUL" and "TASMAN" CALLSIGN

EditVoicePack Instructions

First of all, let me assure you one thing that this task is extremely easy and I will try to make my instructions as simple as it can be (with pictures).

The main reason I chose not to send out the whole 200MB file (usenglishbig.gvp) is that we do not have that much web space and second that there is this new phenomenonal freeware program called EditVoicePack that anybody can easily use to update the ATC file via internet.

I wish when I compiled my first FS2002 ATC voice-pack, they had this piece of software.  It was all manual work, lots of coding, editing sound and it took almost one hour to de-compile and almost 4 hours to compile the whole voice-pack. I had to go back and re-compile couple of times before I was satisfied with the outcome.  I tell you it is totally a different case using EditVoicePack.  It took me only few minutes before I went flying with call-sign "St. Paul" in FS2004.

I'm not going to show/bore you on how to assign 'St. Paul' to all the 9 voices here.  I have already done that and uploaded all the required data files to their server.  They have been accepted and our airlines is registered to use that call sign. All the flightsimmers who update their ATC file via this server, their FS2004 now can say call-sign 'St. Paul' without even their knowledge!!

Isn't that interesting??

All you have to do is to download their updates (tiny biny in size) and generate the big 200MB ATC file on your computer!!  It's that simple.  In a few minutes, you will have your FS2004 call you 'St. Paul 7322 cleared for takeoff'.

Are you ready for it??

I thought so. :)

First thing first, you will need the program Editvoicepack installed on your computer.

<Get it here>

Please note that this program requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.  If you do not have it, the installer will take you where you can download it. (23MB) It's all worth it since many new programs are built using this framework.

1: Run Editvoicepack.

Close Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 if you have it running before running Editvoicepack.

2: It will automatically check for updates on startup ( by default)

and downloads if any new updates.

3: When download is complete (reads 'ready'), hit 'install update.'

Download takes only few seconds and so does the installation of the new updates.

4: Making sure we received what we were looking for.

Let's not deal with Custom Modifications.  SPA and TASMAN are registered Standard Call-Signs now.

Open the Tree (click +/- to toggle) Standard Modifications and open Callsigns and then Virtual Airlines.

See if SPA and TASMAN are listed. Then check the main Virtual Airlines Box.

Note the time at the bottom right.

Ignore red inks!!

5: Update airlines.cfg

6: Update Voicepack

Wait until "Ready" is displayed in the status bar. Very important.

7: That's it.  All done.  Go flying.

Select 'St. Paul' for St. Paul. Note that period(.) after 'St'

Select 'TASMAN' for TASMAN.

Do not forget to assign a flight number.

Enjoy!!!

Hope this worked for you.

Please email me if this worked for you or not.

Only subject field 'ATC worked!' without any body text is just fine with me.
