Notes for JOHN NICHOLAS STRASSER:
Johann Nicholas (Honickle) Strasser lived about two miles from the Susquehanna river in Chapman township, in what was then Union (now Snyder) Co., Pa., where he had a farm. He spoke German. He died about 1814, and is buried near Harold, in what is now Snyder county. His death was caused by lightning, which struck the long log house occupied by the family during an electrical storm, at night. Mr. Strasser got up and lighted a pine knot to go into an adjoining room, in which his children slept, but he was killed before he got there.
He is sometimes confused with his brother Nicholas b: 1782 d:1833, who's wife was Rebecca (Burkart)
