Please refer to the information below that will be helpful in the preparation for your upcoming appointment. Please note that a 24-hour notice is required for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments.

Wardrobe Information for Black & White headshots (Female)

All articles of clothing should be free of wrinkles and stains. Any clothing not pressed will be very noticeable on your final prints.

Solid Colors only – Avoid Black and White clothing. (If a client specifically requests that they wear Black or White clothing, the article of clothing should be textured).

No stripes/patterns/decals/designs/logos

Colors that work best are middle shades of greens, reds, and blues. Denim shirts and jackets also look great on Black and White film.

No thin straps (spaghetti straps), tank tops, draw string tops, hooded shirts or two tone colored tops.

No very low-cut tops. No pastels.

Jewelry should be kept to a minimum – earrings are fine, although nothing big, they should be small hoops or posts. No necklaces.

Types of clothing that work best:

Sweaters (although no turtle necks)

Button up blouses (short or long sleeve)

Pull over shirts (collarless for this look) – short sleeve, long sleeve or ¾ sleeves are fine.

Denim shirts, vests, or denim jackets all look great on Black & White film.

Sleeveless shirts are fine as long as the straps are not to thin

Bring 4 or 5 tops from the above guidelines, and the photographer will choose the top three that will be used for the photo session. Some of the headshots will include part of the body; therefore wear jeans or slacks that can be worn with the various tops chosen.

If a ¾  or a  full body shot is desired (Female)

each client will need to bring a complete full body outfit to the photo session.  This outfit looks best in stylish jeans/slacks or Capri pants with a button up blouse or pull over top – the idea here is to show the shape of the body. Therefore, don’t wear baggy clothes or dresses that may conceal the body shape. Make sure to have shoes to match the outfit, and a belt if necessary. Once again avoid white and black clothes, and have solid colors only. No pastels.

Shoes should match the outfit, although please do not wear sneakers. Unlike the instructions above concerning jewelry for headshots, larger jewelry such as hoops, necklaces and bracelets can be worn for the full body shots.

Make-up artist/stylist

Make-up Artist (Stylist) fees: optional: see below

Hair/Make-up (male) - $40.00

Hair/Make-up (female) - $55.00

Make-up Artist/Stylist is an independent agent and will be paid directly by the client at time of photo session. Cash, checks, or money orders only. No credit cards accepted!

In order to attain the best possible result, the use of our Stylist comes highly recommended. For this reason, the stylist has agreed to offer the above discounted rates. Our make-up artist is highly skilled, certified and licensed. The make-up artistry used is very light and natural looking (especially on younger clients). However, without this service, and due to the nature of Black and White photography, any darker area (such as circles under the eyes, blemishes or scars) will be very predominant. A very natural look is attained while concealing darker areas under the eyes, thus smoothing out the texture of the face overall and accentuating the natural features of the face. The make-up applied is tailored to Black and White Photography. A headshot is an actor’s business card, therefore should be as good as possible while still looking like themselves. The nominal fee is a great investment since one headshot may be used for extended periods of time. In addition to the make-up application, our stylist will make minimal changes to the client’s hairstyle each time the outfit is changed, assisting in wardrobe selection, and continually touching up the client’s hair, make-up and clothing as needed (straightening collars, creases, etc.).

NOTE - Please make sure to arrive with no make up applied.
