After Virginia had awarded divorce to the husband and then split the property in half, Mr. J. Michael Sharman had my girlfriend sent to jail and then sued us over the phone tape two years prior. Into this mess Ms. Dugger wandered, their strategy was to remove my girlfriend from the suit through bankruptcy, leaving me to fight the suit.
My girlfriend retained Ms. Judy A. Dugger when Mr. Strode Brent ignored his client who was in jail for non-payment of child support. During Ms. Dugger's representation she frequently alluded to the mistakes of prior representation and ethical breaches but never elaborated. During her representation we heard terms from the courts such as "we will not overturn the rulings of prior judges". She was a good trooper in return for consuming my girlfriends settlement. Ms. Dugger claimed that we were lucky...
During Ms. Dugger's representation I noted for the first time an avoidance to use a strategy with an excuse that they "had to work in the courts after our case was finished", this implied to us that the constraints were not ethical restraints but a biased theater, maybe something like being black listed. At the time we believed in some professionalism, bad apples maybe, just like any profession, we expected that most were diligent. If there is anything to our concern about politics & religion in this case then there may be something to attorneys being black listed.
Why I added a good attorney to this collection?Questions arose when the bankruptcy court trustee Mr. Robert G. Mayer did not have any note of a professional, Ms. Dugger, identifying ethical or mistakes in prior representation. Why was the only mention in the Mr. Mayer's report state that we had questioned the date of the recordings and that that because Mr. Brent did not note our questioning the date it was not an issue?
Just how diligent was this trustee? I remember a conversation with Ms. Dugger where she stated that the deadline date on the suit had passed and no other creditors filed a claim. A week later we heard that Mr. A. Strode Brent filed a claim, another wink and a nod?
Given that we had prepaid Ms. Dugger for a court case on the suit and had the understanding if we followed instructions by seeing the psychiatrist for the "abuse of process", her dropping it was disconcerting, maybe it was case load? When I told Ms. Dugger that my girlfriend had been bitten by a dog, she stated that she would take that case - so it was not a heavy case load. She had betrayed our trust, so my girlfriend hired Mr. Thomas E. Burks to handle the dog bite injury.
