Family Trip
2003 to Japan
DAY 9B: HOME
|
After 9 hours flying we finally landed at San Francisco
Int'l Airport at about 10:30am local time on the same day we had left
Tokyo. Mark had slept most of the
way, with his mouth open. Cyn commented, that Mark was not to pretty
looking!
We gathered our belongings and took what seemed to be a
mile long walk from our gate to immigration. We got through
immigration and customs without any issues. We took our checked
luggage with us as we wanted to try to hop on an earlier flight to
Portland.

| Horizon
Airlines CRJ-70 |
We walked to the Alaska Ticket counters and got standby
status on the 12:55pm Horizon flight for Portland. Otherwise it was a
4:30pm Alaska flight. We had to go through security. They were rather
rude at SFO. They made everybody take off their shoes. Mark somehow
set off the detector and was hand searched. The only metal object was
a ball point Bic pen in his pocket.
After Security we went to the Alaska Airlines Board Room to
rest and wait for our departure time. Airline clubs really are a nice
way to travel between flights! They are very quiet! At 12:20 we went
to our gate and waited for Standby's to be called. We were lucky,
there were exactly 3 no-shows. We boarded the Bombardier CRJ70 to
Portland. The Flight was 100% full. The 3 of us were separated on the
plane, but that was okay.

| Home (okay so
this photo is from the fall) |
About 90 minutes later we landed at PDX airport. It didn't
take us much time to walk to baggage claim and get out luggage and
walk to the shuttle bus to the Economy Parking Lot. We pulled into our
home at about 4pm.
It was great to be home again, but we would love to go back
to Japan soon!
