This site is unusual in that it serves three audiences: job seekers, job posters, and what it calls “independent agents.” Independent agents are independent recruiters or salespersons who place contract talent at hiring companies. Through its partnership with sharedprofessional.com, HireAbility provides independent agents access to tools and services normally only available to recruiters working in staffing firms or HR departments. HireAbilty and Shared Professional Services, Inc. act as the Employer and Vendor of Record for contractors, providing payroll services for all W2s and independent contractors the independent agent places.

On contract placements the gross margin [$Billed – ($paid + fringes + costs)] is divided with 50% going to the Independent Agent, 25% to Shared Professional Services to cover back office support, and 25% to HireAbility. If you are an independent agent, this service lets you devote your time to managing projects, finding new candidates, and booking new business. If you are a contractor, study the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the independent agent program. It provides an insight into how agencies and placement companies compute their overhead.

Some nice features about their search engine is the ability to filter out recruiters and staffing firms by selecting “Direct Employers”. Also, the search engine highlights your keywords in the text of any job results. This makes it easy to see the context in which the job listing uses your keywords.
