How is acute ocular tendonitis treated?
Acute ocular tendonitis is a bad day in a chronic
ocular tendonitis sufferer’s life!
The way to stop acute ocular tendonitis is to reduce or eliminate chronic ocular tendonitis.
Anti-inflammatory eye drops are very effective in breaking the cycle of inflammation and provide quick relief. These medicines require a prescription from an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
When instilling the drops, it is important to look down with the head tilted back slightly so that the drop lands in the upper area of the globe. In this way the medicine can reach the superior eye muscle tendons.
After
one or two drops are instilled, it is helpful to look up in order for the
medicine to move upward.
Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicines, such as Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, can sometimes be helpful, especially when used in conjunction with cool compresses over the tops of the eyes.
