Vision Ergonomics

Vision ergonomics  is the art of designing the workplace environment so that it is tailored to each individual’s visual needs and preferences.

Because workers have individual preferences, their workplaces should be designed uniquely for them.

If you know how to arrange  your workstation to accommodate your    preferences, you will be less likely to suffer symptoms working with the computer.

Vision ergonomics helps to alleviate computer vision syndrome.

Computer vision syndrome is the widely-used term to   describe visual fatigue and its symptoms while using the computer.

Symptoms reported are similar to ocular tendonitis,    including headaches, eye aches, brow aches, tired and     heavy eyes, vision difficulties, neck and backaches, nausea, photosensitivity,  dry, red, irritated or stinging eyes.

productivity.

Vision ergonomics is based upon knowledge of the eye muscles, their balance and focusing abilities.

Both are essential in determining how to  arrange  the workplace environment including  the computer monitor and keyboard and how  to design the glasses.

The Work Station

The position of the monitor, the location of any reference materials, lighting requirements and chair position can be intelligently positioned to maximize eye muscle balance and, thereby, minimize eyestrain and headaches.

Glasses

Glasses can be designed to reduce uncomfortable head posturing and eye fatigue. The proper prescription,  including prism lenses, and the optimum lens design are based on individual needs.
