Darwin Journal Excerpts

WORLDWIDE FUND FOR NATURE

"The WWF in Darwin is responsible for much of the country's preservation of wildlife. Being one of the richest countries in this area of the Pacific, I think it feels it is its responsibility to educate others to help preserve wildlife. I was impressed by their methods of involving the Aboriginal community in their projects. I am curious if it was difficult for it to gain the trust of the Aboriginals. Its methods of education seem to work. The WWF knows its audience and gears informative packets and advertising toward them. Especially in the third world countries where people can't read, it is important to educate people in a variety of ways. By engaging the whole community, whether it be Darwin, Australia, or all of the countries in the Pacific, the WWF makes a difference in preserving wildlife." -Kelly Sugarman
