Buy the IPAC.  Listen to me people, BUY THE IPAC! So easy to wire. So inexpensive. So nice to use with the player 1 start button used as a shift key in order to operate MAME.  Don't do a keyboard hack first like I did.  I had to add a bunch of MAME control buttons that I don't even need now. All I had to do was take the existing color coded wiring and connect it to the correct locations on the IPAC. Simple! 

I will have a mouse hack for the trackball and possibly for the spinner as well.
