| 88-89 Jim Playfair CCM ultrafil
home. Decent wear on this one, (he played 7 this year). Nice stickmarks, burns & a paint transfer on hem. One repair on the back & nice interior pilling. Unique thing
about this jersey is the crest... it's made entirely of tackle twill, the material the #'s are made from. The hair &
feathers are normally chain-stitched, but for this season, both Playfair & Duane Sutter were issued a home & road
with this unusual-looking crest. I've heard it was a test to see how they looked... luckily, they did not adopt them
universally.

Detail of the Playfair crest, again note, no chain stitching. I know who owns the road Playfair & the home
Sutter. Anyone out there have the road Sutter?

My DVD of a 10/16/88 regular season game vs Boston features Playfair wearing this jersey. In the pic above, you
can compare the crest with Wilson's... Wilson has the skinny, flat-faced crest, note the width & forehead on Playfair's
crest. Also, the spacing of the nameplate & lack of Gunzo's on the rear hem match to the shirt. Interestingly,
Sutter is not wearing a tackle twill crested jersey in this game. |
