91-92 Steve Smith

When I placed a want ad for a Smith Hawks jersey, little did I know it would bring me the ultimate Smith Hawks Gamer from the 1992 Stanley Cup Finals!  A tough big defenseman, paired with Chelios he headed the Hawks D for years.  One of my favs, he won 3 Cups with Edmonton before coming to the Hawks.

Matched to a repair on the white stripe on the right arm (red thread used), a mark in the other white stripe, marks by the glove, a mark on the hem, possibly a white mark above the SCF patch & the crest being offcenter. Card is from 92-93 Pinnacle.

This pic is matched to my jersey by a repair on the elbow (red thread in white stripe).  Smitty took down Lemieux here to prevent a breakaway.  He was called for hooking, the Pens got a powerplay in a tie game with less than a minute left in regulation and Lemieux put in the game-winner with a few seconds left in the game.  Tough moment for my boy, but Lemieux probably would have scored anyway on the breakaway...
