Classification
Classification systems help organize information and make it easier to compare and contrast things. Objects are separated into groups based on their characteristics, or traits.
For example, if you were given the following objects, you could group them in several different ways. They could be grouped by color, by size, by shape, or by pattern. What are a couple more ways to group these objects?
Scientists developed a classification system for all living things in the world. In this system there are five distinct groups, or kingdoms.
