Plants

Man has used plants through the ages in countless ways. Today, plants
supply hundreds of items we use everyday. We sleep, sit, walk, eat, and
insulate ourselves from the elements with plant products.

Floors, tables, chairs, stairs, and doors are made from trees. Cotton and
linen for clothes and towels come from plants. Rubber for tires,
rain boots, and basketballs comes from trees. Medicines such as morphine,
quinine, and digitalis to regulate a heartbeat all come from trees and
flowers.

Although all this makes it sound as if plants are irreplaceable because of
the products with which they supply us, the main contribution of plants to
|our world is something that is not visible but is necessary for all animals
to survive. Plants play an important link in the creation of oxygen for all
animals to breathe.
