GREETINGS FROM THE EAST!

It seems like we have turned the corner toward summer. After a wet April and a fantastic May we have reached a summer condition. As usual, our Lodge will not be having stated meetings in July and August but our schedule looks eventful.

First up is Grand Lodge on June 7th and 8th at Seaside Oregon. The legislation slate is light but there is a lot to be accomplished during this session. Stay tuned for the update.

Saturday, June 9th is our stated meeting where we will recap the Grand Lodge legislation and cover necessary business before the summer recess. At 1:00 pm following the stated meeting we will have a Masonic service for one of our longtime members, Jack M Miethe. Please join us as we say goodbye to our brother and friend.

Mark your calendar for these important dates; June 28th is our annual celebration of the ball teams we sponsor. Pizza and goodies at the lodge hall for everyone.

On July 19th is the annual Student Assistance Golf Tournament at the Stone Creek Golf course in Oregon City. The scramble style play will tee off with a shotgun start at 1 pm. We are still looking for golfers, sponsors and volunteers. If you have interest in the event please contact Brother Buzz Davidson or me.

July 29th is our annual joint picnic with our Brothers from Cornerstone Lodge which is held at Oaks Park. This festive event will include games, prizes, rides for the kids, and a great summer bar-b-que. Don’t miss this free event which is a salute to family.

Thursday, August 23rd is our annual recognition to a special group of ladies, Widows Appreciation Day. This year we honor those extraordinary ladies with a boat trip on the Portland Spirit to Willamette Falls that includes a plated lunch. The trip is no charge to the widows and their guest and Sunnyside Masons, in good standing that have attended two stated meetings this year. Our Masons may also invite a guest. We will be contacting you next month to make your reservations for this fun event.

One more thing, September 8th is our stated meeting and this year will be a homecoming with an “Aloha” theme. We are planning a special menu for brunch and this too will be a “not to miss” event.

These are the highlights of our busy summer but watch the Google calendar for additional meetings and get togethers. It looks like a very fun summer.

Fraternally,

Jim Munson, W.M.
