I finally decided it was time to document some of the finer items in my HO Scale train collection. Although I do not have a personal layout at home, I do belong to the Burlington County Model Railroad Club and enjoy running my trains on the club layout. My favorite aspect of the hobby is prototypically weathered rolling stock, some of which I have purchased and some I have weathered myself. Occasionally I also dabble in structures so there will be some photos of them included. The photos are in no particular order. They merely demonstrate the aspect of the hobby that I find most fascinating.
One thing I am a perfectionist on is that each and every car must be completely within NMRA scecifications before running in a consist. Each car is fitted with Kadee or Intermountain metal wheel sets and Kadee #5 couplers. The coupler function and height is checked with a Kadee coupler gauge and adjusted as necessary. Each car is then measured for length and weighed; then weight adjusted to within NMRA specs. Wheel journals and coupler pockets are lubricated and then the cars are carefully weathered to appear more prototypical. Sometimes it's hard to believe that each of these cars is only approximately 5 inches long.
