Israel Burket emigrated to America in 1751 from Germany on the ship Edinburgh and settled first  in District Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1755,  in Bedford Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania in 1772 and finally in what would later be Shade Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania in 1776.  He and his wife Anna Maria Barbara had 7 children: George born 16 August 1755 in District Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania; Jacob, the second son, born about 1756; Christopher, Revolutionary War Veteran, born about 1757; Catherine, Mary, Margaret, and Barbara.
