Second Generation8.
I re-arranged the children and put the girls first because there doesn't seem to be a church record in Berks County for any children of Israel in the 5 year period that he was there... excepte George Senior born 1755 when he first arrived in the county. Sep 1817. Henry Boose19 was born about 1750 in of Switzerland settled Alleghenny Township.58 Jacob Came from Switzerland with his brother. Settled in Alleghenny township. Brother settled elsewhere. So this brother has to be my Henry. Didn't I find a census with Henry and it listed someone as being a foreigner? Had a son Rudolph born in Somerset County in 1796 and reared on the farm. Married Susan Walker of Brothersvalley. Lived on old Phillip Walker Estate. This would mean he was probably single on the 1790 where he appears alone. Married sometime thereafter (probably 1795) and has Rudolph in 1796. His birth year calculated from his age on the 1850 census!
Never did find his name on the page. INTERESTING: Taneytown He appeared in the census in 1790 in , Bedford, Pennsylvania. listed as Hendrey and on page 24. There is also a Jacob on page 22 Henry is living alone on the 1790. Interesting to look for him on the tax records at the center to see if he was single or widowed by 1790. I am thinking single.
THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. Except for the fact that Jacob is born in 1804 on the Berlin records. UGH. Just blew that theory. I just barely found him, too. Still, his mother could have died any time after 1804. His brother Jacob is married with no children on the 1790. Perhaps this means that Mary was younger than her brothers--and not married until after 1790? perhaps not. He appeared in the census in 1810 in ? Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania?. This is probably not him. He supposedly had a son in Bedford County born 1796. Cannot find them on the 1800 or the 1810.
Henry and wife are 26-44 and have 4 children under 10. Possible Henry's mom is living with them. NOT sure if this is my Henry. NOT many Henry Booses. NOT MANY BOOSES!!!!! I guess that is good. This family may help me find where the Burkets were between 1760 and 1770. We'll see. Perhaps they were in Lancaster. So. Did Henry and wife live in Lancaster and then move to Somerset where Mary dies and Henry collects her part of the Israel Burket Estate? Henry appeared in the census in 1820 in ? Harrison, Perry, Ohio. Is this him? too young?? 100010 0110 26-45 and wife is 26-45 and one girl 14-26 son under 10. Henry and Jacob are both on the census in Bedford County on the 1790 census. Jacob sticks around, but where in the heck did Henry go? Important to find out. Henry and Jacob were both immigrants and born in switzerland. WAIT! Find out which ship and when they came!!

This comes from the history of Allen county ohio on ancestry.com
Allegheny Township from Blackburn's history of Bedford...and somerset (got it online). Little is known about the first settlers, who were mostly along the old Glades road. It is known that one Boose, the ancestor of a family still well known in the county, kept a tavern at the eastern foot of the Allegheny mountain, before 1800. This, when the turnpike was in its glory, was a noted drove and wagon stand, of which Henry Imhoff and Jacob R. Hilligass were the last owners. Some of the Kellers also settled along this road, and George Keller, probably as early as 1790, kept a tavern in a log cabin where the afterward famous While Horse was. Maybe this is the tavern I passed so many times...on the state road when in Pennsylvania fall 2003. It was just as described here; on the eastern foot of the Allegheny on the state road. See notes for Catherine's Husband, George Feltz There is a Jacob Boos on the Census in York, Paradise Township. Very intersting. Als a Henry in same place but not til 1840 (He is 40-50.) and again 1850.
THere is a Susannah Walker, daugther of PHillip Walker (Allegheny Township Web site) who married a Boose. INteresting. Mary Burket and Henry Boose had the following children: |
