We are the local Portland, Oregon USA chapter for the World Transhumanist Association. See the Declaration link in the links section of this page for an explanation of what Transhumanism is. See also the FAQ link.
Briefly though Transhumanism or >H is a loosely knit group, so far, of countless people from all over the world that have keenly noticed certain positive trends in the ever more rapid development of technology especially within the last 30 years of life on this planet.
We see these trends as helpful for all life on the planet and for the advancement of the human species beyond our current individual and common limitations.
More later... but here is an interesting quote that says a lot about us.
"'I believe in transhumanism': once there are enough people who can truly say that, the human species will be on the threshold of a new kind of existence, as different from ours as ours is from that of Peking man. It will at last be consciously fulfilling its real destiny."
