been going
downhill ever
since. He
changed his
last name
from McClellan
to Dunning:
the official
line is
that it
had something
to do
with parental
divorces and
stepfather names,
but the
truth has
more to
do with
several visits
he made
to Colombia
in the
late eighties,
some late-night
business meetings
under the
Brooklyn Bridge,
and seventeen
tons of
Romanian smoked
oysters. The
Witness Protection
Agency provided
him with

My wife Susan and I married
in 89 a while after graduating from Cal together. We spent a
lot of time traveling (all fifty states, England, Ireland, Scotland,
Wales, Hong Kong, China, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Jamaica,
Bahamas and much of Canada, along with most of the National Parks and
24 baseball stadiums). We still love to adventure, but have
slowed down a bit now that we have kids; Paige (97), Ryan (99)
and Drew (01). Weve settled down in Moraga and really enjoy
raising our kids there.
Janet
Mehlhop
janetmehlhop@yahoo.com
After
graduating from MHS,
I was an exchange
student in a tiny
village in Switzerland
for a year through
Rotary. This experience
changed my life as
it opened my eyes
WIDE after living
in sleepy-town, sheltered
Orinda, gave me the
traveling bug and
sparked my interest
in languages and multicultural
communications. Upon
return top the US,
I spent four great
years at UCLA, studying
hard, partying up
a storm and soaking
in the LA scene (great,
but I'll ALWAYS be
a Northern California
girl). Two weeks after
graduation I took
off for Europe again
for two years to visit
my Swiss family, to
trek from Sweden to
Morocco and every
country in between
and to land a job
to pay for it all
in Chester, England.
Back
home, I worked in sales for the SF Chamber
of Commerce - great job but was soon hit
with the traveling bug. In 1993, I left
for the South Pacific and South East Asia
for a year where I tried to experience
everything from bungy jumping in NZ to orangutan
rehabilitation in Sumatra to elephant
trekking and Buddhism in Thailand to networking
for a job in Hong Kong and Vietnam...
The money ran out so I went back home
to the US and worked for a cool multicultural
communications agency for three years.
At
33, I decided it was then or never
and
went back to school
to the University
of Michigan to get my MBA. GREAT
time
but butt cold and
way too much work...
Back in the US again, I worked
in sales
and marketing for
Schwab, got laid off with a very
nice package
and spent 8 months
as a woman of leisure,
getting my ESL./EFL
teaching certificate,
traveling to Turkey
and just enjoying
a life without work... Reality
does hit,
though: I just landed a new job
in sales/bus,
dev for a cool shop that brokers
high-end
consulting called
Msquared, in SF. I'm loving life
in the
city, still singing
up a storm in professional
and amateur groups
and weddings, spending
lots of time in the mountains and
enjoying
a very special man in my life.
Still
reading? Good on ya! See you at the
reunion!!!!

Hello all! I am not sure which is most interesting - the fact that
I did go to college and even hold two degrees, or that I am blissfully
married to Mike Vigo (for 10 years, although together for about the
past 20). We have 3 daughters: Natalie 7, Olivia 5 and Morgan who is
very 2 1/2! I guess I should be proud to say we live back here in Orinda
and are re-living everything - please don't tell our kids this come
10 years, okay? As for myself, when I was two years into college I
became a flight attendant for Republic and Northwest Airlines. I did
some great traveling for pennies and even pretended to be married to
Mike so we could go to Cancun for his graduation. So as not to have
a brain full of mush for the rest of my life, I went back to school
and now have a BS in Nutrition from Cal Poly (SLO) and a Masters
in Health Administration from St. Mary's. I worked as a Dietitian at
Summit Medical Center in Oakland for 7 years, but stopped when the
family started. I still do nutrition talks a couple of times a year,
just finished teaching an art class for preschoolers at the Community
Center and do volunteer work there as well. It will be fun to see everyone
else that I don't run into here!

I attended Colorado College for two years, then I took a year off living
in Seattle before returning to college with the Audubon Expedition
Institute, a traveling environmental ed program. After earning my BS,
I worked for Laguna Farms, an organic farm near Sebastopol. Then I
moved to Missoula, Montana. I helped start a nonprofit group, the Missoula
Urban Demonstration Project, which works with low income residents
on self-reliance in building, gardening and energy. I loved Montana,
but I broke up with my partner of 7 years, and one of us had to leave!
After a year back in Seattle, I got together with Steven Yanoff, a
classmate from Audubon, and we moved to New Mexico. After completing
a teacher licensure program, living briefly north of Arcata, CA, and
then teaching sixth grade for 6 years in Socorro, New Mexico, we finally
found our dream (as close as we are going to get) property near the
ghost town/artist's colony of White Oaks, New Mexico.
We live on an old homestead in the mountains in a 107 year old adobe,
far away from anything civilized, or anything resembling a big body
of water, unfortunately. We do have a creek and spring, fossils, potsherds,
views, snow in winter, and I take care of 54 fruit trees and a small
truck farm. People who visit say it is like the PBS show Frontier House
as we have nothing anyone would call a bathroom (yet), we chop wood
for heat, and I can and preserve from the garden. I also work at the
small local school in Carrizozo 1/2 hour away, am a volunteer firefighter,
and help promote tourism for White Oaks. Steven is a conservation biologist/computer
GIS specialist, and sometimes we do field work together. We have four
dogs and a lot of wildlife including bears, mountain lions and rattlesnakes.
I am nearly complete with my Master's in Science Teaching through New
Mexico Tech in Socorro. I was able to travel to China on a Fulbright
through that program in 2000, but usually we travel in the west for
camping vacations, and to Philadelphia to visit Steven's family. I'm
planning on going to the reunion... see you there.

(925-254-4444). Life has been interesting and exciting. I live in Concord
with my two dogs, Inyo and Shasta. I have a girlfriend, Lisa, going
on two years together. We havent tied the knot yet, and we havent
brought any new life into the world either, but the best is yet to
come. I see many of our old classmates around the area and some have
even been my customers. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at
the reunion!

I am currently living in Walnut Creek with my wife Tina (Deffner, Class of 1982),
two boys (Jeremy 10, Christopher 2), and our two black labs, also boys. Tina is
outnumbered around here. I am back in the old community as a firefighter/paramedic
fir the Moraga-Orinda Fire District. When we are not working, in school or remodeling
the house, we enjoy family, friends, neighbors, Tahoe, boating, dirt bikes, camping
and when Tina lets me ... hunting. See you all soon!

I guess the most relevant news for this audience would be that
Carol Lieske and I got married about three and half years
ago. After remaining friends through all the years, we started hanging
out together again in our thirties, after Carol had returned from a
seven year stint in Seattle. And the next thing you know... We recently
had our first child, Isaiah James, on March 13, 2003. After Stanford,
and her Seattle years, Carol returned to the Bay Area to study Traditional
Chinese Medicine. She now sticks needles in people for a living. After
UC Davis, I decided to go to law school, and I now manage the litigation
for a large credit card issuer. Needless to say, Carol's job makes
much better dinner conversation than mine. We live in San Anselmo with
Isaiah (of course), a Boston
Terrier named Pluto, and Ella, the black cat.

After school, I moved to New Orleans for a couple years. I lived in
the French Quarter and worked on the steam boat, Natchez, up and down
the Mississippi River. After that, I moved to Hawaii where I lived
for about 8 years. I started my own carpentry business and became an
avid scuba diver. I moved back to the Bay Area in 1992, where I met
my girlfriend Jolene McAtee. We have been together for almost 11 years
and have no children. We live in a 100 year old Victorian house in
downtown Antioch, where I am continuing my carpentry buisness. We love
to travel alot, when we get the chance to. We are just taking life as
it comes. The only people I still keep in contact with are Brian Ramsey,
Mike Weyeneth, Kevin Gerson, Lisa Lang, and Scott Smith. I have talked
to
Samantha Wilbur and Margy Lunstrom a couple times, as well. It is nice
to see that all of you are doing well. Would love to see you all and
I hope that some of you will get in touch with me. I will
try to make it to the reunion. Hope to see you soon. :^) |
