What is it about Doubletree Day Camp? The Basics

Day camp is a five-day themed event for Girl Scouts held during the end of June. It takes place during the day, and is a great way to make friends, learn new skills and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Day camps are designed for girls to attend individually, not for troops. Registration papers are handed out through the Troop Leaders. You register for day camp by mail. Since Doubletree Day Camp is staffed solely by Girl Scout volunteers, adults are necessary to make camp happen! Day camp fills up quickly, so girls who have a full-time, adult volunteer are given priority registration. Once these positions have been filled, girls without an adult 5-day volunteer will be admitted on a first-come, first serve basis by postmark on registration envelope.

Day Camp Volunteers Position Descriptions:

Camp Director         Camp Shopper        Camp Unit Leader        Camp First Aider        Camp Bookkeeper

When can I register?

Day camp registration opens on April 2, 2011. Registrations should be postmarked by the 23rd for the early bird special and best chance at placement.  Registrations received after the opening date will have a $10.00 late fee added. Camp usually fills up on the opening week.  We will accept registrations till May 7th or till the camp is full. Preference is given to girls with a 5 day volunteer!

Can a girl attend day camp even if she’s not a Girl Scout?

Yes! Girls who are not Girl Scouts are encouraged to join the fun! Non-Girl Scouts just need to include a $12.00 membership fee to be paid with the day camp registration.

What will the badge activities be?

Two official Junior badges or Brownie Try-Its and One Interest Patch  for Cadettes.

Doubletree's 44th Day Camp is coming to town !

Weather

If you wake up and the day is overcast and drizzling, wear rain gear and prepare to go through a regular day.  If you wake up and it is pouring, thunder and lightning we will hold camp at the Sycamore United Methodist Church. Your Unit leader will contact you at 7:30 am if we go to the church. The day is shortened and will end at 1:00 p.m. Please call your unit leader if unsure of where to go. If camp is underway and it begins to thunder and lighting, we will take shelter in the (brown) tags building and camp will end at 1:00 p.m.   If you wake up and a tornado warning has been issued we cancel that day of camp. Safety is the most important issue. We have 200 hundred people at camp to keep safe. Please review with your child what they need to do if any of these occurs. Your understanding and patience at a difficult time for everyone is appreciated.

Reminder about mail.  We deliver mail every day.  Drop off is located in the morning where the cars drop off the girls. A mail can will be positioned in the center of  the turn around loop in road for the daily drop off of mail. The girls anticipate the delivery of mail from family members each day and is well worth the effort!  Mark your envelope with child’s first and last name and unit number.
