Meetings and Events
Chapter meetings are usually on the third Sunday of the month.
March 11 -- Northland Library at 2:00 PM:
Amanda Haney will take us on a trip of “Alaskan Alpines and Other
Wildflowers” -- “Alaska is a wildflower-lover’s paradise. The harsh
climate and short growing season insures that a multitude of flowers
bloom at once. Alpines are found at low elevations and are easily
accessible due to the high latitude. During a trip this past July, I
photographed a plethora of wildflowers in Denali National Park, Wrangell
St Elias National Park, and Thompson pass near Valdez and will share
them with our Chapter.”...Amanda.
April 15 -- National Aviary at 2:00 PM: To
start the meeting we will see a slide program of the development of the
garden, then Alan Peacock will demonstrate the plant location system he
has developed so that we will be able to identify the plants in our
garden after the labels have been lost, moved, or broken. We will then
visit the garden and see the results from planting 200 to 300 spring
blooming crocus, tulips, etc. There is still a lot to do before the
Eastern Study Weekend in October, but I think you will all be pleased
with the progress to date.
May 6 -- Show & Sale at Soergel’s
