Roller Ski

Roller skiing offers very specific training so we do some mid-week evening rollerskiing during the summer. Our late summer and fall workouts ease into more serious roller ski workouts. Safey is key. To be recognized wear a highly visible vest and brightly colored clothing. We do compact so no one is left behind. With rare exception, the downhills on our routes have straight runouts. The ones that don't are on out and back routes so you can elect to walk. Some skiers just are not comfortable with downhills and choose to walk the hills. We choose roads where traffic is light or shoulders are wide.

Evening rollerski sessions are at the Sound Barrier. This area has improved since the collapse of the I-35W bridge since CR-B access to MN-280 was closed. There is little traffic here and residents are friendly. We ski both sides of CR-B, the MN-36 service road by the sound barrier, and connecting streets. There is enough here for a 45 minute to one hour workout.

Lake Elmo - We meet at Oak-Land School and ski the roads under the blue overlay.

Scandia. We bike and roller ski a number of routes centered on Scandia starting from the parking lot just below the church and across from the town park..

Elm Creek-Meet at the trailhead. Paved trails no longer have the 80F restriction for roller skiing.
