Well, as you can see, we have not reported news in a while. Since the last report, a lot has happened. We went to Disney Florida in November, and met with Tom's sister Ellen, and her family, Joe, Joseph, Thomas and Jordan, along with Joe's Mom, and Tom's Mom.... yup.... sort of a small reunion, in Florida! In addition, we visited with Tom's family for Christmas, and then again in January, when Brian made Chief of the Closter Fire Department.

This summer so far has been the "Year of the House". In short, finally getting around to some of the house projects that have been looming. Those updates can be found in the "New House" area.

Hopefully, now that the software that is needed to create this website is loaded on another computer, that is easier to access, this should be updated on a more frequent schedule.

Hello, and welcome.

It has been a while since there was an update, sorry.

To fill you in on some more recent news, everything has been slowly getting better. Tom had another brief stay in the hospital the beginning of January, but is on the road to recovery. He is putting on weight (yippee!!), and will be starting a new job with W.W. Grainger on March 13th. He had been doing some work for another company, but Grainger will be a desk job, and better suited to his physical limitations while recovering. He is still on medical leave with the Fire Department, but hopes to return shortly.

While in the hospital, Brenda took on the daunting task of removing the carpet from the living and dining rooms, to reveal the 85 year old hardwood floors. With a bit of work, they should be beautiful! Also, work has started on the fireplace, mainly due to the chimney fire we experienced in January. Thankfully all we needed was a chimney cleaning, no real damage, except for some minor smoke damage in the house.  (The on going joke is that Tom missed all of the guys so much that he set the house on fire so that they would pay a visit!).

Hope to get some pictures updated on the work.  Alot of work has been done to the floors and fireplace without pictures, but will try to remember in the future!!

Greetings! It is now the Monday following the benefit weekend, and what a weekend it was! First off, Brian and Michael (Tom's Brothers) surprised us all by driving 13 1/2 hours in from New Jersey for the event, and arrived Friday evening. They attended the event and helped us both around the house. Brenda's Mother, Aunt, and family friend arrived Saturday by train, and also attended. The event was a success, and everybody had fun! Even our Senator attended and presented Tom with a certificate of recognition. A number of articles hit the local papers, as well as mentions on some of the local radio stations.

A special thanks to Fay and Andy, John and Jennifer, Pauline and Dex, and Gerri for al of their help organizing the event, and thanks to everybody else for your help, thoughts and prayers!

Well, this will be the first entry in the "Recent News", although not so recent. On September 20th Thomas went to the hospital with complaints of abdominal pain. After some tests, and alot of pain, Thomas went for emergency surgery on the 21st. The diagnosis was a perforated bowel, and a resections was performed. Two days later a second operation was performed to confirm repairs that were made. These two surgeries so close to each other really put a strain on Thomas' body, and he ended up on a ventilator. Many other complications and infections kept him in ICU for 3 weeks, and then in a monitored bed for an additional week. On October 16 he finally made it home, very weak, and still on meds. (In fact, if Brenda was not going to be home with him, he would not have gone home). Since being home, antibiotics have been given daily by IV (Thanks Brenda!), and a boost in food/calorie intake. Just taking it day by day. Each Doctor's visit brings good news that everything looked great, just need time.
