Well, this project has been in the thoughts and plans since we first moved in, and it only took us 6 years to start it. You can say it all started when Tom was able to get a great deal on a new storm/screen door. From there, it has blossomed into a major project, and many other great deals!

We have gone all out with a new door, windows, insulation, electric, roof and shingles. As you will see, this has been quite the undertaking... especially given the condition of the old work.

 Honestly, the whole unit should have been ripped off, and all new, but time and money would not allow for it.

The mice had been in the walls for years, and evidence shows. The fact that there was not much of a sheathing (only batten boards) and that the grade was so high did not help.  A new PT sill was installed, and 1/2" sheathing covered by 1/2" foil insulation. The bottoms of the sheathing was capped with aluminum flashing to keep the mice away (hopefully) and the grade lowered. Most of the framing was reconfigured, mainly because of the door and window additions. The roof was completely reframed with a 4 foot overhang, that will cover an added small porch. HardiPlank siding will be going on soon, and PVC trip for the windows. Electrical has been roughed inside, and outside will get two recessed lights in the soffit.
