here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57XBs6YXKb8 it might be better to watch the video before reading the following: started with a 12 minute video recording in low-light of stuff around the house, trying to be as obscure as possible about what the camera was pointed at. in iMovie assembled a rough video edit of the more interesting pieces. played the video and recorded in GarageBand a keyboard improvisation. elaborated that into a sound track, changing the timing as needed to make musical sense. imported the soundtrack into iMovie and re-edited the video to fit the music, including assigning some images to themes, and radically changing the order of the clips.

Piano As Percussion

Bud's Phenomenon inspired this composition. I allowed ethereal spirits to channel through my hands to create a piano noodle. Then I added a ton of reverb, and played it backwards. Then I chopped up the midi track into bits and reversed their order. Several copies of that are used to control various orchestral synths...

Several rows braided together. They are constrained to harmonize by only major or minor chords. I used a computer to find some rows meeting this constraint.
