milling molecules

changing gear
     checking parameters
what is the true price of memory?
     where are you going now?
     will this suffice?
     a chilling effect
closing the last of the windows
waiting fish
there they are, over the railing
not colliding, not moving a fin
     each insignificant
but as a group they make it clear
     they know you have food
     the image of patience
chirping crickets
     random sine waves?
     what is the sound
     of one cricket chirping?
     of a thousand?
     this evening
     try synthesizing it
changing seasons
     the evenings darkening
     earlier than yesterday
     only slightly
     but cumulatively
     a chilling effect
     the image of patience
milling molecules
     a teardrop is so composed
     in its trillions of collisions
     each event infinitesimal
     countless chains of interaction
     each insignificant
     yet taken together

     it flows
