Omega
blue sparks
fifty foot long blue sparks
jumping like lightning
from the high tension wires to the ground
jumping between the wires
slowly from one tower to the next
the blue sparks multiply
sailing to the North
and to the South
spreading through the grid
dancing across the wires
from the East
to the West
she looks at me with her steel blue eyes
a hint of a smile
but mostly
concern
in those eyes
the lights have been out for days
no word
on when they might return...
the world has stopped
there's nowhere to go
and no way to get there
chat with the neighbors
and check what's left in our fridge
and when it gets dark...
it gets dark.
darker than i've ever seen before
and the night sky is ablaze
with planets, stars and galaxies
it's all we have left
