Julia

It has been a warm peaceful quiet day
the sun has set and the light is fading
i still can taste the barbecue sauce
of tangy ribs from dinner

the soaker hose is hissing
feeding the daylilies
i often forget to remember to enjoy
each and every day of summer

the windows all are open
a silent soft cool breeze is wafting in
the long kitty is purring by my feet
the sounds of the world - out there

my muscles ache a bit i guess
but otherwise i feel at ease
remembering the butterflies of today
and my grandson's smile

a while ago i turned off the light
why, i'm not sure - perhaps so i can witness the nightfall
the simple experience of now
my moment, my heartbeat, my time elapsing

evening twilight birdsong
a car passing
. . .
a sudden loss for words

some Julia sets
half of what I say is meaningless
live in another dimension of existence
my daylilies were facing the wrong way
The Day is Done
out of the mist your voice is calling
