About Boy Scout Troop 199

Troop 199 meets in the Mission San Jose District in Fremont. Troop 199 is sponsored by the Mens Club of St. Josephs Church and meets Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:45 PM at St. Joseph School, Rm 7. Troop 199 currently has 15 registered Scouts and is a mid-sizeTroop.

The Troop plans a yearly Calendar that is published in September eah year to allow Scouts and Parents to plan the year. Currently the Troop has an outing approximately monthly.

The Scouts are active in the Troop program. Highlights of the program have included a Ski/Snowboard trip, an overnight camp-out on Angel Island, a trip to Moaning Carverns for rappelling, a trek to the Grand Canyon in March of 2008, summer camp in the Sierras in July, and a white-water canoe trip in August.

The Troop is supported by an active group of adults and by fundraisers such as the Wreath Sales in November and early December. Troop 199's current Scoutmaster is Henry Allen and he may be reached at Scouts@T199.org.

The Troop is service oriented, not only helping out in the annual National Scouting for Food program but also assisting in Christmas Gift distribution for needy families. Troop 199's recent Eagle Projects have included working in the beatification of St. Joseph's Church, running a community children's finger-printing and ID program both at St. Joseph's Church and at Newpark Mall, painting storm drains in the industrial parks in Fremont with the signage "Do not dump. Flows into the Bay", and a renovation and replanting of a herb garden in Ardenwood Park. Our two most recent Eagles have done beautification projects at Kennedy High School and building a new "Mickey Train" display for the Cripps Court Chistmas Decorations.
