Below we have posted photos some of the over 2,300 indexed individuals from the collection of The Tackett Family Assn. who have roots in Pike & Floyd Co., Kentucky. The photos in this collection contain many originals, but most are copies of originals that we have collected over the past 40 years, and a few are scanned images found with printed church obits, newspaper obits & books. Included are hundreds of headstone photos, photos of area churches, and other prints that may be of historical interest. It is our intent to donate this collection to Special Collections, Allara Library, Pikeville College, Pike Co., KY. We particularly want to acknowledge the contributions to this collection by Juble Tackett of Pikeville and the late Hassell Tackett, also of Pikeville. ©The photos shown on these pages are the property of The Tackett Family Assn. and are for sharing with your family, and for your own personal use - but are not to be transmitted to other individuals verbatim electronically, on other Internet websites, or via print media; nor are these images to be transmitted for the use of sectarian or commercial organizations, except with the express permission of The Tackett Family Assn. This 1919 photo of a whiskey still was probably taken in Floyd Co., KY. Lineage of most of these individuals has not yet been determined by us. Left to right: Dock Perry, A.J. Slone [barely seen behind rock], Robert Perry [drinking from bottle], John J. Amburgy [standing in back of Still], Isom Slone [probably holding a pistol] and Henry Thornsbury, [holding a rifle.]

This young man is unidentified, but on the back are written the names [to] Denver Jones [followed by a short poem] and "from your friend, T.P. McCown" - so we might assume the photo is of Mr. McCown [prob. Timothy Paul, b c1872]. The photo was taken c1900 probably along Indian Creek, Pike Co., KY. Timothy was marr/1 to Lina Tackett, d/o James Harvey, and marr/2 to Helen Ratliff. From an original print in The Hassell Tackett Collection: |
