The Tackett Family Association

Can you recommend another surname website with strong Tackett/Tackitt connections? We would like to add other websites that either provide sources on their website or offer sources on a membership basis.

ALDERSON: Numerous Tackitt descendants, particularly within the line of John Wesley Tackitt Sr., 1795-1873, of Monroe Co., VA and Johnson Co., MO, who marr/1 to Mary Alderson, are connected to this family. An excellent publication, Alderson Roots & Shoots is published by David Fridley. This is the family of John Alderson, 1699-1780.

BOWLING/BOLLING: There may be as many as 200+ of our members who share descent from this old family. A contact with The Bolling Family Assn. can be made on the Internet. It has been a long-standing, but undocumented "family tradition," that an ancestor of Hannah Bowling, wife of Indian Creek, KY Solomon Osborne, 1765-1852, [and ancestors of perhaps 300 of our members], was Pocahantas, the famed "Indian Princess." Research by The Bowling Family Assn., and others, place this line in dispute.

DAMERON - DAMRON: Most who carry the name, in either spelling, descend from Lawrence Dameron who received a land grant in Northumberland County, Virginia, in 1652. Lawrence and his wife, Dorothy, along with their children, were the first documented Damerons to come from England to settle in Virginia. Around 100+ members of The Tackett Family Assn. also share Damron ancestry.

LITTLE Family Legend. This website is hosted by Irma Little Boyer & Jane Murtishaw Lindsey. Although I saw nothing there directly related to the Littles of Pike/Floyd Co., KY, it is likely that the earlier generations noted could prove to have some connection. [Of more help to the East KY Littles would be Jackie Little's book, "The Little Workbook." Click here to contact Jackie Little. I'm not aware of anyone with a a greater depth of knowledge of the Pike/Floyd Co., KY area Little Family that does Jackie.

OSBORNE: The ancestors of perhaps 300 of our members are Solomon Osborne [1765-1852] and his wife, Hannah Bowling Osborne. Solomon & Hannah settled shortly before 1820 on Indian Creek, Floyd Co. [now Pike Co.], KY. Verifiable evidence has yet to be found proving the parentage for Solomon Osborne, but it has been established that he was NOT the Solomon Osborne of Grayson Co., VA. It is reputed that an ancestor of Hannah Bowling was Pocahantas, the famed "Indian Princess." Although we list this line in our dB, we have not verified the line. Certainly one of the better family Web Sites on the Internet is "Osborne Origins," hosted by lkosborne.

REYNAUD/RENO: Looking for RENO links? This new site and Reno genealogy by Dr. Steven Fancy is an excellent place to look. He has compiled data from the late Dr. Wm. Lawson Reno, Guy Reno, Sherman Reno and others, to bring us the most up-to-date report on this family that was so closely connected to the immigrant, Lewis Tacquett in the late 1600's and early 1700's. [This is truly one of the best documented sites on the Internet?]
