Ceremony Dress

With all the somewhat obscure an/or generic Star Wars costumes I have or have planned, I found that I really wanted to have a canon, highly recognizable costume to balance things out. I angsted over whether to make the classic Leia outfit seen through most of A New Hope or the dress from the awards ceremony at the end of the movie. I chose the ceremony dress because I like it better, as far as dresses go, and because I like the hair that goes with it better than the buns.

The sleeves for this dress, which look so innocently simply at first glance, are anything but that. I've gained much in the way of useful advice, suggestions, and diagrams from the discussion thread for this dress at the Jedi Council Forums Costume and Props Board. The seamstresses there are absolutely amazing!
