Claxton Science Lab

Claxton School's Science Lab went into operation in the 2005-2006 school year. We are only operating on a half schedule this year, but, we have still managed to give the first grade through the fifth grade at least an introduction to the science units we are teaching.
Mr. Meyers has been working with the classroom teachers this year. The students have been working with various, grade specific, topics out of the STC or Science and Technology for Children series of kits.
The STC program was developed by the NSRC or The National Science Resources Center. The NSRC was founded by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academies. The NSRC was formed and the STC kits were developed to improve science education in the United States as well as the world.
The kits we are working with are:
Each of these kits have been very carefully designed to stretch the limits of each of the grade levels. They are not to difficult to be manageable; but, they push the children to think critically about the task at hand. The kits challenge students to learn with every lesson.
