Still knitting like crazy.
I made some lovely purple socks for granda out of knitpicks essentials. Yes, of course I forget to take a picture of them before I mailed them, because I suck :/
I finished the back of fjalar and am up to the collar on the front. It's driving me absolutely batty. I read and reread the directions a million times, checked for errata and people blogging about knitting it, all to little avail. The numbers just don't quite add up on the shoulders. If I make it as written, I end up with fewer stiches on the left shoulder than I should have, and a couple extra on the right, even after I figured out that I should continue making all the increases that were made on the back, even though the pattern doesn't tell me to. I found one other blog mention of someone having the same problem, but she didn't say what her final solution was. In the end I decided to shift the collar one stitch towards the left so I start out with 2 more stitches on the left than on the right when I divide. This should give me the proper amount on the left and within a stitch or two of being correct on the left. Now I'm just crossing my fingers and it's full steam ahead on the collar. I will try to remember to post exactly what my numbers turned out to be when I'm done in case someone else tries to search on the darn thing ;)
I've also decided that I really don't like the tapered sleeves, so I'm going to go with plain stockinette, slightly belled sleeves. If I wasn't so far along, I would also change the sleeves to set in rather than dropped, but I really don't want to back up that far ;) Also, I think the dropped sleeves will look okay once they're wider.
I've also got a pair of sock weight mittens on the needles and after that I'll probably make some arm warmers out of the purple gloss I bought when I got the grandma sock yarn.
And lastly, I'm impatiently waiting for my knitpick interchangeable needle set. Everyone seems to be raving about them. Pointy interchangeable addis basically. I do hope they come out with a 16" cable soon though, for my hat knitting pleasure.
