I love having new knitting buddies. Of course the fact that I'm old enough to have given birth to half of them is slightly disconcerting.
The tea party on Thursday was loverly. Mary knit and felted up a fabulous felted top hat. I have to get some yarn for my felted fedora. I think I'm going to just go with 220 as the yarn it calls for isn't being sold either locally or from any of the big online sellers (Harrisville flax and wool)
I'm just about finished with the noro/lambspride jacket. I'm not pleased with the fit though. The arms are way too wide in the shoulder area. I should have converted the pattern to a raglan. I always have so much more luck with fitting with that style. I think though, that it's alterable without redoing the whole top half. I'm going to reseam the sleeves to be the right size and then (eep) just trim off the extra. Other than the upper arm shoulder area it's a good fit.
Other knitting for the week was mostly a pair of super thick socks for gordon. I knit them from cascade 220 on size 2 dpns, toe up. He requested some thicker socks because his feet are size 11 1/2 and he's always wearing size 12 shoes do to the lack of half sizes. The fit was perfect and he wore them all day yesterday. Note to self: Gordon boot socks, 60 stitches on size 2 with worsted yarn. Check.
After I realized that my jacket needed surgery, I put it aside and worked on my socks that rock socks last night. I love this yarn. It's so squishy. The colors are just amazing too. I'm so in love with purples and greens right now.
Speaking of which, on Friday I stopped by a yarn store sort of near work (Renaissance Yarns) to check it out. (It was a nightmare finding it, even though it's only 4 miles down the road. I'm directionally challenged and road construction meant I couldn't take the route that yahoo gave me. ) Anyhoo, they were having a sale, but none of the sale stuff appealed. It was mostly what I would call novelty yarn. But after all the work it took to find it I wasn't leaving empty handed (lol) so I bought some Lornas Laces sock weight in this awesome neon green and violet colorway.
Here are some slightly out of date pictures that I took on Friday, but forgot to post. Tomorrow I'll have to take a picture of all the sock yarn I've bought this month :P
