A solitary island surrounded by mountains and forests far away from inhabited localities. A nation ruled by women. Be warned that men who come here meet a frightening fate. You can get to Hokkan Country through the western castle wall.

Kounan Country
Population: Approximately 300,000~400,000
The country's guardian deity: Suzaku (The guardian of the South. It takes the form of a sacred bird and is red in color.)
Territory: Good climate, plentiful crops, the interior of the country is stable. The capitol is Eiyou.
According to "The Universe of the Four Gods" that was given to the first Emperor by Taiitsukun, there's a legend that "When the country is on the brink of destruction, a girl from another world will appear in order to acquire the divine power of Suzaku. The girl that obtains the power of Suzaku shall guide the country with that power." Presently the 4th Emperor, Saihitei (Hotohori) rules but the powerful neighboring country, Kutou Country, is threatening it. Tamahome's village is near the Kutou border.

Hokkan Country
Population: Approximately 1,000,000
The country's guardian deity: Genbu (The guardian of the North. It takes the form of a snake and a turtle mating and is black in color.)
Territory: A vast land dotted with only villages and the capitol. That vastness is 3 times that of Kounan Country. Has lots of mountains, forests, and grasslands.
Their cuisine and way of living are quite different from Kounan Country. It's like life in present day Mongolia. There is a town in the middle of the country called Tokuuran.

Mt. Taikyoku
The land where Taiitsukun rules this world. It is located at the heart of the world. It can only be seen by chosen people. People with evil hearts can't find a way to the mountain. To them it will only appear as a mountain lying in a crag. Taiitsukun gave "The Universe of the Four Gods" to each of the 4 countries and constantly watches over them from Mt. Taikyoku.

The country's guardian deity: Byakko (The guardian of the West. It takes the form of a white tiger and is white in color.)
Territory: Mountainous land that extends to the plains.
There's a large temple halfway up a mountain where you can look out over the subjects everywhere. It's near the Hokkan Country's Southern desert. Near the border is the village Makan.
