Kappy
grew up just outside of Cooperstown, New
York. He started playing Rounders and
played with Abner Doubleday and the Cooperstown
kids when Doubleday "invented" baseball in 1840.
Kappy then moved to Cincinnati and got involved
with the local teams before professional
baseball existed. He then tried out for, and
made, the original 1861 Red Stocking
team but got injured. Kappy is now, belatedly,
making a comeback with the Simsbury Taverneers
as a pitcher and utility infielder. |
