Career:  Jack "Jailbird" Gatzuras was born in the hardscrabble town of Dirtsville, KY.  He spent the first 5 of his teenage years running from the long arm of the law for a crime too heinous to describe here.  He finally went
straight after learning the fundamentals of base ball while doing 3 years in the slammer.  In the last year of his prison term, his team won the Appalachian Mountain Prison Base Ball Championship.  Jailbird wandered from
town to town finally settling in Simsbury, CT and living a fairly clean life, making barrels, shoeing horses, tasting whiskey and playing base ball on the weekends to the delight of the local cranks.
