In an exciting Simsbury home town double
header the Simsbury Taverneers met with success
at this, the first home game for the 2005
season.
The team played a tight first game against
the Hartford Senators losing by 5. The
game was filled with great hitting and fielding
as the Taverneers started to get their "sea
legs" with several new players learning the 1886
rules and playing their first overhand game.
The play was well executed including an
excellent "hidden ball trick" out where the
Taverneers got a Senator player out on third.
The Taverneers will be playing the Senators
again on June 12th.
The Taverneers played the second game of the
day against the visiting Waterbury Connors.
The Connors beat the Taverneers in a home
Waterbury game on April 17, 2005 but the
Taverneers kept that in mind as the handily beat
the Connors on the Taverneers home field.
In this game, the Taverneers teamwork really
gelled and the team made fine hits and many
great catches to finish the day with a split
result - 1 win, 1 losss. The Taverneers
look forward to playing the Connors again later
in the season.
