Post Game Analysis for
May 23, 2004 Game
Simsbury Taverneers: 6 - Hartford Senators: 10
On a scorchingly hot Sunday afternoon the
Simsbury Taverneers battled the Hartford
Taverneers in Simsbury. After the bottom
of the 7th, the Taverneers were winning by one
run but the Senators forced their way forward
with some well placed hits that found their
mark; scoring 5 runs in the 8th and 9th to close
out the Taverneers.
The Taverneers played their best game yet
with some spectacular endurance pitching by Hank
"The Hammer" Newman and relentless catching by
Duncan "The Judge" MacKay. The whole team
played hard with steadily improving teamwork and
knowledge of the game of vintage base ball.
As an example, Rob "Mell" Melanson and Hank "The
Hammer" Newman fooled a Senator base runner with
the old "hidden ball trick". Also of note
were two home steals by The Judge and a new team
member, Brian Logan who slid head first! |
