On a glorious spring day in Simsbury, CT with
nearly 100 spectators in attendance and great
food provided by Pettibone's Tavern, the
Simsbury Taverneers Vintage Base Ball Club
played their inaugural game against the Hartford
Senators. Even though the Senators came
out on top and beat the Taverneers, the
Taverneers showed their strength with many good
hits, great pitching, and impressive base
running. In the end, the Senators' hitting
and fielding dominated the Taverneers.
Despite the score, the Taverneers played an
excellent game and drew complements from both
the crowd and from the opposing team. One
Senator player was quoted as saying "the
Taverneers are going to be a team to be reckoned
with".
