Known for his blazing speed as a youngster in
Nova Scotia, "Cat Man" emigrated to the United
States as a teenager where he soon began an
apprenticeship as a cordwainer in Fall River,
MA. After serving as a message runner for the
7th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry
during the great war between the states, "Cat
Man" settled in the Farmington River valley as a
journeyman cordwainer and became active in the
local journeymen cordwainers union which helped
win the fight for the eight hour day. With so
much extra time on his hands, "Cat Man" can now
play baseball and enjoy time with his wife and
three children. |
