Places to Go

I like warm water as well as cold. The experience and critters are different, but that's the fun of it. I'm hoping to expand where I dive to maximize the types of dives I do and the critters I see.

These destination links either provide dive logs pages to document individual dive site experiences and critters seen or travel logistics and overviews of the destinations.  (Click on the sites to navigate to the destinations)

California Destinations

Although much of my diving is locally in Monterey/Carmel, I enjoy warm water travel too. My current favorite warm water destination is The Cayman Islands. I've dived Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Away from Monterey, but still in California, I like the Channel Islands. I boat dive with Truth Aquatics and have been on their boats the 'Conception' and 'Peace'.

In Florida I've done the Disney DiveQuest experience at EPCOT CENTER in Orlando.

Liveaboards and Day Boats

Truth Aquatics  (Santa Barbara/Channel Islands)

The Truth Aquatics fleet, moored in romantic Santa Barbara, California, caters to divers or those just seeking a stress-free getaway. In 1996, Truth Aquatics placed sixth in Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine's readers choice in the Top 100 Overall best diving excursions.

Truth Aquatics has three of the finest custom-built dive boats in the world. Built from the ground up strictly as dive boats by divers, you will appreciate their appointments. However, these cruises are not recommended for dieters. Expect gourmet cuisine, with menus including breakfast cooked to order, hot and cold lunch items, hot hors d'oerves and dinners that include steaks, chicken, and seafood, not to mention the desserts. Meals are served round the clock in their spacious galley dining areas and no one goes hungry.

Many design features make the Truth Aquatics fleet unique including circulating mask rinse tanks at exits to a submerged ramp and boarding step for easy boarding after your dive. Large benches at the bow and stern make suiting up easier while a special warm-air room dries wet suits quickly between dives. Dual air compressors allow rapid tank refilling so there is never a wait for your next dive. For those who like to fish, there are live game wells as well as deep freezers to store your fresh caught game. Fish & Game licenses are mandatory for any collecting and these can obtained from the Sea Landing office prior to departure, or contact the Department of Fish & Game in advance. The Sea Landing Dive Center is located within steps from the Truth Aquatic vessels for convenient equipment rental.
